Within the Sole Luna Festival, we organize a Capacity building course: “The art of documentary”. The course, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the University of Palermo, Dams Departement, has become an annual appointment.

In three years Sole Luna has trained 80 young film-makers from Iraq and Lebanon with whom has mainteined contacts and with the more capable of them has already produced documentaries in their countries. (www.italyforiraq.it)

During a period of 8 days, for about three hours a day, the students will be exposed to the rules of audiovisual communication, shooting and editing techniques.

The course will be attended by 15 students coming from one of the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Islamic Countries and by 15 Italian students of Palermo University.

Teachers of the course are some of the most important filmmakers in Italy. The most important filmmakers, guests of the festival, are involved in the training course through tutorials.

Every afternoon the students have a practical laboratory and they produce all together a short documentary of the week in Palermo.

This intensive workshop will become a cultural exchange, a tool for new friendship and cooperation.

The certificate of the attendance at the course is a valid reference to enter University’s master course.
